Programmes That Widen Access to Care
Our commitment to social responsibility shows up in the subsidised and free-of-cost programmes we have run for years — not as one-off gestures, but as standing parts of how Mangala Hospital operates.
- Subsidised Dialysis Programme — round-the-clock haemodialysis made available to patients facing financial hardship at a fraction of the standard cost, run through the Mangala Kidney Foundation.
- 'NEW LIFE' — Subsidised Neonatal Care Project — extends specialised NICU care to premature and critically ill newborns from families who could not otherwise afford it, continuing our practice of introducing advanced care at reasonable cost.
- Charity Beds — offered in our general ward since 2008; for patients unable to pay, bed charges are waived and the hospital works to keep the overall bill subsidised, supported by the Mangala Charitable Trust.
- Rural Ambulance Service Programme — a fleet of ambulances working round the clock to extend emergency medical assistance to remote areas of Dakshina Kannada, collecting only nominal or fuel charges from very poor patients.
- Mental-Health Crisis Support — urgent assessment through the hospital emergency pathway, with confidential follow-up through Psychiatry.
- Research Grants — funded research projects supported across successive years (2018-19, 2019-20, 2020-21) to advance evidence-based clinical practice.
