Overview
Onco Surgery at Mangala Hospital
Onco Surgery at Mangala Hospital follows an organ-specific, multidisciplinary model. Cancer surgery is coordinated across three experienced surgical teams: General Surgery for cancers of the breast, thyroid and gastrointestinal tract; ENT for head and neck cancers; and Obstetrics & Gynaecology for gynaecological cancers. This structure connects each patient directly with the team most experienced in operating on the affected organ system, supported by shared diagnostics, operation theatres and critical care.
Our General Surgery team undertakes major oncological surgery as a routine part of its practice, alongside its broader caseload of hernia repair, laparoscopic surgery and thyroid surgery — supported by four sophisticated operation theatres and laser technology also used for select cancer excisions. Separately, our ENT team performs neck onco surgery, including laryngectomy, thyroidectomy, maxillectomy and radical neck dissection, using laser techniques where appropriate for laryngeal and oral lesions.
Gynaecological cancers are managed by the Obstetrics & Gynaecology surgical team, who bring the same laparoscopic hysterectomy expertise used in benign gynaecological surgery to appropriately selected cancer cases. Across all three teams, patients requiring ongoing symptom control or end-of-life care are supported through coordinated palliative care, rather than being discharged without a plan once surgery is complete.
