Cardiac care at Mangala Hospital is delivered by a consultant-led team supported by cardiac diagnostics and coronary monitoring. Resting ECG, echocardiography and Computerised TMT (treadmill stress testing) help the team evaluate symptoms and plan appropriate treatment or referral.
Patients admitted with chest pain, arrhythmia, uncontrolled hypertension or a confirmed cardiac event are managed in our Coronary Care Unit (CCU), which runs on continuous multipara monitoring, 24-hour intensivist cover, and has the facility for temporary pacemaker implantation when a patient's heart rhythm needs it. For conditions that require catheter-based treatment such as angioplasty or permanent device implantation, our cardiology team works within a coordinated referral pathway — our role is to diagnose accurately, stabilise, and hand over with a complete clinical picture, not to leave a patient to start over elsewhere.
Because heart disease so often overlaps with diabetes, kidney disease and chronic lung conditions, our cardiologists work closely with General Medicine, Nephrology and Pulmonology, so risk factors are managed as a whole rather than one specialist working in isolation.
Those three cardiologists are Dr. Narsimha Pai, Dr. M N Bhat and Dr. Manish Rai, each holding a DM in Cardiology — the highest super-speciality qualification in the field.

Treadmill Stress Testing
The Treadmill Test (TMT) records your heart's electrical activity while you walk at a gradually increasing pace and incline, revealing how your heart responds under physical stress — something a resting ECG cannot show. It's a standard, well-established tool for assessing coronary artery disease risk, evaluating unexplained chest pain, and checking exercise tolerance after a cardiac event, and is fully computerised for accurate, reproducible reporting.
Seeing the Heart in Real Time
Echocardiography uses ultrasound to produce a live, moving image of the heart's chambers, valves and pumping function. It's central to diagnosing heart failure, valve disease and structural abnormalities, and to tracking how a known cardiac condition is progressing over time — all without radiation or an invasive procedure.
First-Line Diagnosis for Chest Pain
A resting electrocardiogram (ECG) remains the fastest way to detect arrhythmias, evidence of a prior or ongoing heart attack, and other electrical abnormalities of the heart. Combined with a clinical risk assessment covering blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes and family history, it forms the starting point for almost every cardiology consultation at Mangala Hospital.
