Casualty & Emergency at Mangala Hospital
Casualty is the department that never closes at Mangala Hospital — staffed and open every hour of every day for accidents, trauma and sudden medical emergencies. The hospital has long positioned itself as a pioneer in trauma management in the region, and has attended to more than 53,000 trauma and other emergencies over the years, with a consistent focus on treating patients within the critical first "Golden Hour" after injury, when early intervention has the greatest impact on outcome.
The emergency bay provides monitored care spaces with central oxygen support so patients can be assessed, stabilised and treated promptly. Pre-hospital and transfer care is supported by the hospital ambulance service, including Mobile ICU capability for patients who need monitored transport.
Because a genuine emergency rarely fits neatly into one speciality, Casualty has rapid, direct access to the OT complex, our critical care units (CCU, MICU and Post-Operative ICU) and diagnostic imaging, and works hand-in-hand with Orthopaedics, Neurosurgery, General Surgery and General Medicine for onward specialist care — so a patient's treatment continues seamlessly once they are stabilised. For patients needing ICU, CCU or MICU admission, anaesthesia and critical-care backup is provided by Dr. Ganapathi P Bhat and Dr. Anita G. Bhat.

What Supports Care in Casualty

Monitored Care Bays & Central Oxygen
Every bed in the Casualty bay has central oxygen supply and monitoring built in, so a patient can be assessed and treated the moment they arrive rather than waiting for portable equipment. The layout allows several critical patients to be managed simultaneously, with duty staff able to escalate immediately to on-call specialists when needed.

Mobile ICU Ambulance Fleet
Our fleet includes three hospital ambulances and a Mobile ICU ambulance equipped with advanced life-support facilities such as ventilation support, a resuscitation kit, central oxygen, cardiac monitoring and a defibrillator. Trained staff can begin essential care from the moment the ambulance reaches the patient.

Direct Access to OT, ICU & Diagnostics
Casualty sits within immediate reach of the operation theatre complex, our critical care units and radiology, so a patient needing emergency surgery, ICU admission or urgent imaging is moved without delay. This tight physical and clinical integration is what allows the Golden Hour focus to be more than a slogan.
The Emergency Care Journey

Admission / Discharge
Patients are admitted to OT, ICU or a ward for further care, or treated and safely discharged with follow-up advice.

Call our 24x7 emergency number, +91 94495 03512, and our team will dispatch a Mobile ICU or basic life support ambulance as appropriate, with a doctor, nurse and paramedic on board.
The Golden Hour is the first hour after a serious injury or medical event, when prompt treatment has the greatest impact on survival and recovery. Our ambulance and Casualty set-up are both built around minimising the time to first treatment.
Casualty works on triage, not a first-come-first-served queue — the most critically unwell patients are treated first, regardless of arrival order, so wait times depend on the severity of your condition relative to others being treated.
Yes, children are received and stabilised in Casualty with paediatric and neonatal specialists called in as needed, before onward care in Paediatrics or the NICU if required.
Yes, we accept cashless and reimbursement claims from all major mediclaim providers and TPAs, including for emergency admissions. See our Insurance page, or our billing desk can confirm your policy once the patient is stabilised.
