Nephrology at Mangala Hospital
Nephrology is the medical management of kidney disease — distinct from Urology's surgical focus — and at Mangala Hospital it sits at the centre of the Mangala Kidney Foundation, the dedicated kidney and urinary tract programme running since 1990. Our nephrologists manage everything from early chronic kidney disease and diabetic kidney damage through to advanced renal failure requiring dialysis, working from the same infrastructure that supports our Urology and transplant work.
The department is supported by computerised haemodialysis stations, a dedicated RO (reverse-osmosis) water-treatment system and infection-control capacity for patients who require additional precautions. A Subsidised Dialysis Programme supports eligible patients; current eligibility, scheduling and concessional charges can be confirmed through the nephrology desk.
Because kidney disease rarely exists in isolation, our nephrologists coordinate closely with Urology (for stone disease and transplant surgery), Cardiology (for the shared burden of hypertension and cardiovascular risk) and General Medicine (for diabetes control) — and dialysis support is also available in our Post-Operative ICU and Coronary Care Unit for critically ill patients who need it.
